Scenario 1 - Customer wants to sell a ticket with free shipping (a.k.a. ‘The Seller”)
In order for a customer (referred to as the seller from now on) to sell a ticket, they need to create an account or login with their existing account details. Once logged in, the seller has two ways to get to the “sell the ticket” screen.
- a) Clicks on the “Sell Ticket Here” image on the header bar in the top right of every page. This will open a new secure (SSL) page explaining the stages in selling a ticket. Every page, until completion will be secure.
The seller clicks “Sell with FREE Shipping”.
This will open the next page which will ask the seller to select the category from a drop down menu with which the ticket relates to –Sports, Concerts, Theatre and Specials
Note: it would be expected to be able to add/delete/update this category listing from the admin screen. Based on the selection, this will populate another drop down menu underneath the first containing a list of sub-category’s.
Note: it would be expected to be able to add/delete/update this sub-category listing from the admin screen.
This will generate a list of all the dates and cities that this event is on e.g. If the seller selected ‘Music’ from the category list and ‘Justin Timberlake’ from the sub category, it would generate a clickable list with the Event, Date and Venue that the Justin Timberlake concert is on.
Besides each listing is a “Sell” button. If the seller clicks this button, it will open the next page with the seller’s location details. These details are taken from the sellers account details (see Account Information).
The seller clicks ‘Continue’.
The next page will ask the seller what type of sale this is.
Note: For this release, the only type of sale available will be “Fixed”.
The next page will ask the seller for the quantity of tickets and the ticket type.
If the seller selects “Specific seat”, then the next page will ask for the row, column and seat number and comment.
If the seller selects “General Admission”, the next page will ask for a comment.
Once the seat information has been entered, the next page is payment method and pricing. Note: For this type of sale, there would need to be some validation to ensure that the seller cannot sell a ticket with less than 5 days to the date of the concert.
The seller selects the method they want to be paid (paypal or cheque) the date they want the sale to end (validation) and also enters the price to sell the ticket at.
The seller clicks continue and is asked for their credit card details, this includes the credit card type, number, expiry date and CCV (validation). They will also be required to select their billing address which is retrieved from their Account Information.
The seller’s credit card will be charged 0.01c. This charge is to validate the seller’s credit card. If the credit card details are valid, the seller will see a confirmation screen with a credit card transaction ID. This transaction ID will be provided by WorldPay or Paypal. WorldPay will issue a Merchant confirmation email containing the transaction ID.
The next page is a preview of the sale. It shows the event, date, time, no of tickets and price, each field will have an edit button to allow the seller to change a value. If everything looks ok to the seller, the seller will click continue and the ticket will be displayed for sale on the site. The seller will receive an automated email with a confirmation that the ticket is for sale, a link to view the ticket and a ticket reference number.
If the ticket is sold, a confirmation email is sent to the Seller to let them know. This email contains a link to the sellers account.
Once the seller logs in, it will show them that the status of the ticket they are selling has changed from ‘for sale’ to ‘awaiting confirmation‘. Below this is a link called “Yes, I have the tickets "in hand" and will ship them immediately."
The next screen will ask the seller to enter the date they will be able to ship the ticket. The seller clicks continue which causes an automated email to be sent to the seller.
This email will contain a description of the sale, the date the tickets are to be shipped, the name and address the tickets are to be shipped to and a FedEx number for free shipping.
The seller posts the tickets
The seller logs into their account.
The ticket that the seller sold has a status of ‘awaiting confirmation’. Underneath this is a blank textfield called FedEx number.
The seller enters the FedEx number received in the email.
The status of the ticket changes to ‘posted’
If the order remains unconfirmed for more than 48 hours from the time of the automated email notification, the administrator may choose to cancel the order and find alternate tickets for the buyer. Failure to confirm orders may result in the closure of the seller’s account.
- b) Select the sub-category that the ticket belongs to e.g. Concerts -> Eric Clapton, select the date the ticket is for, click “Sell”. This is a faster way for the seller to enter the information required. By selecting the event and date, the seller skips most of the pages mentioned above and goes to sellers location details page. These details are taken from the sellers account details (see Account Information).
From here, everything is the same as above

WorldPay will issue a Merchant confirmation email containing the transaction ID.
